((Hey, that's cool, I understand. I know what it's like to be museless;)))
He watched her carefully, a hint of concern evident in his expression now. She looked frightened, positively terrified, and he couldn't for the life of him understand why. He hadn't raised his voice, or threatened her, or even displayed any clear signs of anger. So why was she so nervous? She looked skittish and ready to bolt, much like a cornered animal. Why was she afraid of him, or was she maybe equally afraid of everyone?
Zane shifted slighty, making sure to move slowly and not startle her. The situation was incredibly uncomfortable, and if he could he would very much have liked to just disappear. He wasn't good with people, and his communication skills with women were especially poor. What could he say not to offend her? Because the last thing he wanted was to poke fun at her phobia and cause her to hate him. He felt for this girl, this Alyn, and he hoped that maybe they could someday trust eachother. It would do good for the both of them, to have someone looking out for the other's back.
Alyn huh? Pretty name, never heard it before though.
And hey, it's ok, I'm not really angry. Just a sensitive subject, that's all.
By the way, do you know if there is any food to be found around here anywhere? I haven't eaten in days and I don't know this city all that well...

She flinched slightly as he said her name, she was still quite timid, her subconcious was just waiting for the next thing to come, they next beating. She gave a small name and then said softly trying to steady her voice.
"Thanks, it means beautiful."
It was her common response to every time someone said something to that effect. She continued to listen to him as he spoke his next words, they didn't seem to ease her in the slightest. She had noticed it was a sensitive subject and really wanted to take back ever commenting about it. She simply nodded again not exactly knowing what to say. She wasn't about to get into an extensive story about why she was so afraid of him, but all well he moved on. Food? She hadn't eaten since she had woken up. She gave a small shrug sort of trying to be introverted but her emotions were to large to tuck them all away. Her voice was again very soft and unsure.
"No, i haven't eaten in a while either."
She seemed at the moment uncontrollably scared on the inside, though on the outside she was the slightest bit put together. She looked to her hsaking hands that she held ouer in front of her now. Se inspected them flipping them over several times as if they were not hers and she was getting used to them. They shook a lot still and so she tucked them back behind her. Her breaths were forced slow and her eyes wend from being focused on the ground to glancing up at him then back to the ground.

Zane looked her over again, sighing slightly as he did so. She was still frightened; it appeared that he really had terrified her. What could he do to calm her now, as he had already tried excusing his earlier behavior, and it seemed that it hadn't helped at all. She was eying him cautiously, trying her best to appear brave, but Zane could almost smell the irrational, prey-like, scent of fear that lingered in the air. Nothing about the current situation could possibly have scared her this much, or could it? Was this fear about the present, or was this some past evil coming back to haunt her? He knew what it felt like, and could relate. Though with him it was seldom fear, more often guilt and anger, but that didn't make it any less loathsome. Zane turned away from her, nodding slightly when he heard her speak. Her voice didn't waver, but it was soft and meek, different than it had been. He didn't like the change, and could only see one alternative. Although he didn't like the idea of wandering alone in this city, and although he would have liked to get to know this Alyn a little better, he felt that he had no other choice. He would leave her alone, so that she could calm down, and maybe get her thoughts in order. It was evident that she didn't want him here, and while it hurt him deeply, he would just have to grin and bare it. For some reason he longed for company, and really didn't want to be alone at the moment, but apparently, she did. It went against his entire being to enjoy company, but he had been, until he had frightened her and turned the light atmosphere into one of tension and distress.
All right, well look, I'll leave you alone. Maybe we'll have more luck finding provisions if we split up anyway...
He gave her one last glance, and a small nod in parting. Behind his sunglasses his eyes were sad, but the expression on his face remained strangely neutral. When exactly he had mastered that skill he wasn't sure, but it sure did come in handy. Without so much as a goodbye he set off walking down the street. Down the very middle, as there really weren't any vehicles to worry about anymore. His pace was slow and almost lethargic, partially because he was wary of walking so very out in the open, partially because he hated leaving Alyn at all, and partially because he could feel the beginnings of a terrible headache coming on. Zane knew that he would have to find shelter from the sun, and soon, or else he would be in deep trouble. The thought of food was pushed to the back of his mind as he began scanning the storefronts for any signs of life. All the time wondering if it had been a wise choice to come to this city in the first place.

more or less completely pissed at herself for chasing someone off because she was afriad; she watched him leave. She held her breath slightly finding that now that he was leaving she didn't want to be alone. It was such a strange feeling to her. She had always been alone, even in company she kept herself hidden and alone. When he turned and was leaving she reached out a hand towards him standing up straight now, but words did not come to her. She mouthed the word 'wait' as she watched him leave. Her eyes followed as he walked down the street, silently she stepped foward standing on the edge of the porch watching him walk away. When she though he was out of ear shot she kicked one of the large beams holding up the porch and muttered.
"Damn."
The beam lurched and cracked, and the building started to sway and moan. Her eyes widened and she turned to look at the swaying building she backed slowly off the steps stumbling and falling on the dusty road. The building swayed more dangerously and the cracked beam snapped followed by another of the beams on the porch. She scrambled backwards getting to her feet as she heard several more cracks from the other beams. Her deep blue eyes widened even more as she backed farther away.
"Shit, thats not good."
She stared at the building from the middle of the road as it swayed. The roof of the front porch came crashing down sending large splinters of wood flying in every direction. She ducked as one flew over her head but got a chunk of wood in the stomach. She was knocked backwards her eyes screaming of pain though she did not make a sound. She wasn't breathing though her lungs gasped for air. Finally she opened her mouth and took in a deep gasping breathing coughing. Blood came out onto her hand as she coughed. She rolled her eyes, thinking great not again before trying to get up. Now her stomach really hurt SHe hoisted herself into a sitting position supporting herself on her hands.

From behind him Zane suddenly heard the strained sound of an ancient building creaking loudly, the sound of splintering wood following not long after. He stopped for a moment, puzzled as to where the sound was coming from. Then the truth suddenly dawned on him, clicking in place and freezing his heart as it did so. Behind him there were many old buildings, the Inn being one of them, and last he had looked Alyn had been standing on the Inn's front porch. Zane turned his head to look, marveling at how the flow of time had suddenly become distorted. His eyes widened in shock and fear as he saw what was about to happen, the inevitable disaster that was about to go down. For a moment he considered calling out, but found that he was too late, and that the beams above Alyn were already breaking. She had noticed it as well of course, but she to seemed unable to hinder the harsh will of fate. Zane set off towards her at a full run, his breath hitching in his throat and causing him to pant slightly. He watched as she was thrown backwards and a large chunk of wood struck her straight in the stomach. She fell to the ground and remained there, for a second Zane was afraid that she might be unconscious, she wasn't even breathing! Then, suddenly, she let out a sharp hacking cough. He was close enough now to see her clearly, and cringed visibly when he saw that she was coughing blood. Oh no, not good, the clouds of dust from the ruins of the building were most likely irritating her lungs, and it could be that she had internal bleeding as well.
Alyn?! What happened?
He slowed down as he approached her, a bit wary of the buildings that were creaking ominously above him. He could see that she was struggling to get up from the ground, but not completely succeeding. Was she in shock, or was she seriously injured? Had she broken something or was she possibly stuck under the rubble? Zane navigated his was carefully through the debris, jagged splinters and nasty looking rusty nails lying strewn everywhere. Finally he was close enough to talk to her properly and he crouched down to get a better look at her situation. With a quick glance he could see that nothing appeared to be broken, though he could always be wrong, and she could easily have sprained an ankle or a wrist. He stretched his arm forward and offered her a helping hand, hoping dearly that she would be able to get up. More of the building could fall any second, and they needed to hurry if they wanted to get out of there in time.
Do you think you can get up?

((no just searching for my muse... *kicks self* i've been busy too))
She coughed again wiping the blood away that had just come from her mouth. Great she was just not having the best of luck. She looked to Zane and gave a small nod. Now her stomach and lower part of her ribs throbbed horribly with pain. She clenched her fists and slowly managed to stand. Once she was standing she brushed herself off a bit before looking up to Zane, she winced slihgtly with a particularly strong throb of pain before speaking.
"Where do you want to go?"
She started to walk slowy in the direction he had initially set off to a little while ago looking to him. She winced again putting her hand on her stomach where the piece of wood hit her. She knew she would have a nice bruise from that one. She waited for a response hoping that he did not say anything about a hospital. She knew people had a tendancy to lean towards that place when she, or anyone else for that matter, got hurt; but she didn't need to go to the hospital, she hated the hospital. The dreaded place had kept her as a science expiriment for a while and now she refused to ever go back, she oculd take care of herself. She coughed harder this time, blood again appearing as she coughed, her hole body shuddered as she coughed and she had to stop and stand still for a moment.

He watched her carefully as she stood, and began to slowly start walking away. It was evident that she was in pain, and she was still coughing blood. Zane's brow furrowed in concern, something really should be done about that cough. And her stomach should be looked at as well, was it just bruised or could it possibly be something worse? For a moment he almost mentioned trying to find a hospital, but he stopped himself just in time. What a stupid thought that was, nearly laughable! There wouldn't be any working hospitals here anymore, few doctors and probably even less supplies. The electricity didn't even work, what was he thinking?! No, for now a place to rest would be about the only thing that they would be able to find. And maybe he could find some food, or more importantly, some water, if he searched hard enough? What Alyn needed was real medical attention, but since the chance of her receiving that was slim, then they would just have to make do with what they had. But he was sure of one thing; he wouldn't be letting her out of his sight until he was sure that she was good and well again.
Let's try to find some shelter, some stable shelter. Once we've done that then we can decide where to go from there.
Zane started walking, but then stopped again, realizing with slight humiliation that he didn't know where they were going. Where were they headed? He knew barely anything about this city, or where good, safe, shelter could be found. He combed his fingers through his hair, frustrated by his own uselessness. He always used to know exactly where he was, and where he was going, but here and now he was utterly lost. Lost not only in terms of sense of direction, but lost as to what to do with his very existence. Things were so confusing, so alien and strange. Would the sense of normalcy ever return, would they ever succeed in rebuilding the world, or would it always and forever remain this way?
Where should we go, do you know of any safe haven?

She walked a bit slower as he talked listening to him quietly. Stable shelter, in this place? She gave a shrug slowly turning to look at him. Her had was placed lightly on her stomach as if it would do any good. Her other hand raised to her mouth covering it as she coughed up more blood. She supressed a moan of pain from the force of her coughs, the more she coughed the worse she hurt. She watched as he walked closer and then stopped again. She didn't move towards him but stayed in the place she had been standing. She thought for a moment after he asked his question. She shook her head a bit before slowly stopping it and nodding. She did know a place but it was a hell of a ways away.
"The Stately Home."
She pointed to where she had been headed and said.
"Its down that way a bit and off to the left..."
Her words slowly faded and she several times in a row trying to fight what was comming. Her arm fell out of the air back to her side and her hand slipped from her stomach. She swayed slightly before drifting down to the ground almost in slow motion. She had passed out, a little problem of hers; when bleeding, visivly or internally, she had a tendancy to pass out. She laid silently on the ground, no signs of life except for the shallow breaths that were inhaled and exhaled. Hey at least she was breathing, things could be worse. And look she stopped shaking, well for the moment atleast.
